I just want to start off by saying that I have wanted to do this procedure for over a year now and have never gotten fillers in my life. This was my first time and I know that there are many with opinions to getting fillers done but this is my body and think it’s perfectly ok to get fillers. My one piece of advice for anyone considering fillers is to do what makes you happy. There will always be negative perception for things like this, but my advice is do your research. I’m not saying everyone needs it, but it is what makes me happy and not too worried about what people are going to think. Note that there are always risks involved and you really need to find someone skilled to treat you.
My biggest concern was the hollowness under my eye. It’s not a huge difference but I don’t look tired and my face just looks rejuvenated and well rested. It’s a very subtle but effective change in my opinion. I gathered some questions from those who wanted some more information on getting them done.
Did it hurt?
I won’t say the injections hurt a lot. I think the thought of having a needle near my eye was the most painful thing for me. Saying this, I have a high threshold for pain and not really afraid of needles. Note also that the needle is not the same type of needle as the ones in your doctors office when you get a vaccine. It was more like a slight pinch or mosquito bite every time the needle touched my skin. I was also numbed prior to the procedure!
How long does the procedure take?
Mine probably took a good 15 minutes in total. The consultation, the numbing, and the injection itself. Immediately right after, I noticed a huge difference. That’s the beauty of fillers, it’s very effective and you can see it instantly.
Is there any downtime?
I did get some bruising on my left eye but it went away after two weeks when my fillers settled in. I wasn’t allowed to do anything extreme the first 48 hours but other than that, I was able to go by my day to day routine.
How long does it last?
Dr. Kamal said depending on how my body metabolizes the fillers, typically around 6 months to a year.
Who did you go with?
I went with Dr. Kamal at the Albany Cosmetics Laser Centre in Edmonton. I have worked with him in the past and trusted his opinion and work. It’s important to note that there are always risks involved when you’re getting fillers especially with the tear through area. It’s tricky and you really need to find someone skilled to treat it. Whatever you do, don’t google risks and complications after your appointment. It is very rare but just like everything else in this world, there are risks.
How much was it?
Book a consultation with Dr. Kamal to see what he can recommend as it differs from each client.
